Point O’ Woods is the oldest and most private of the twenty-two Fire Island’s communities, even boasting their own private ferry service. Point O’ Woods has a quiet and conservative lifestyle. Evenings are relaxed and the home is where most gatherings take place. Original and timeless cedar-shingled architecture is abundant throughout this community. There is a post office, a grocery store and candy shop, but no public facilities are available.

The community not only requires its residents to be a family with children, but must be recommended by a club member and interviewed by the real estate committee as well. They are eligible to buy after renting for a year.
