Located in the shadow of the Fire Island Lighthouse, Kismet defines what most people think of when they imagine a beach community.  Intensely informal, carefree and easygoing, Kismet residents come from a variety of backgrounds and share a variety of interests.  Due to its proximity to Robert Moses State Park and the Captree Bridge, Kismet is the ideal place for year-round residents who wish to live on the island but still work on the mainland.

The bay front commercial area consists of two full service restaurants; “The Kismet Inn”, with a 50 boat marina and “The Surf’s Out”, with Fire Island’s most westerly sunset view. Also located “down town” is the Whitney family-run Kismet Market with prime meats and quality foods, Dock Pizza Pizzeria, and the Fire Island Ferries dock. The community has recently upgraded its two public tennis courts, basketball court, and playground area. Kismet is known as a friendly community with something for everyone.
