The parking lots at Fire Island Ferries are opened only when ferries are running.  They open 30 minutes before the first ferry is schedule to depart Bay Shore, and they are locked 15 minutes after the last ferry arrives in Bay Shore.  For security purposes, the gates are locked when the ferries are not operating.
